Rogério Atem de Carvalho is a teacher and researcher at the Instituto Federal Fluminense, Campos, Brazil, since 1996. He earned his D.Sc. in 2001 in Production Engineering, and a B.Sc. in 1994 in Computer Science. He founded in 2002, and manages since then, the Information Systems Research Group. His research interests are ERP, ECM, Decision Support Systems, Software Engineering and Project Management, areas where he published many articles and book chapters, and acts as private and public sector consultant. He was awarded with the IFIP TC8 Distinguished Academic Leadership Award in 2006 for his research on Free/Open Source ERP systems. He is a founder member of the IEEE SMC Society Technical Committee on Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) and Chair of the IFIP TC8.9 Brazilian Chapter on EIS. He acted as referee and program committee member for various international conferences, and teaches undergraduation and graduation courses on Software Engineering, Project Management, ERP, and Decision Support Systems. Dr. Jürgen Dix is Full Professor of Computational Intelligence at Clausthal University of Technology since 2004 (as well as Head of Department) . Before that he was Reader for Knowledge Representation and Reasoning at Victoria University of Manchester , UK (2000-2004), Visiting Professor at the University of Maryland in College Park, USA (1999) and Assistant Professor at Koblenz University, Germany (1994-2000). He did his PhD on Nonmonotonic Semantics of Logic Programming (1992, Karlsruhe University) and his Habilitation on Deductive Databases at Technical University of Vienna (1996). He worked since 1989 in several areas of Computational Logic (nonmonotonic reasoning, logic programming, deductive databases, knowledge representation) and, since 1998, also in Multi-Agent Reasoning. He has published more than 200 papers and gave more than 60 invited talks/tutorials (USA, UK, Australia, Argentina, France, Austria, Poland). He has co-authored two monographs (MIT Press and Cambridge University Press), co-edited 13 books (Springer LNCS, LNAI, MASA) and nine special issues of various journals. He was coordinating node for CompuLog, CoLogNet, AgentLink I, II, III and for WASP, a European network on answer set programming and is member of the American Association of Artificial Intelligence, and the Association of Computing Machinery.Among the key achievements of his work in the past 10 years are the foundations of logic-based heterogeneous agent systems and contributions to computational logic (deductive databases). Prof. Dix has led a range of successful projects (ca. 1 Mio Euro) and organised more than 30 international conferences and workshops. Since 1990 he was on the programme committees of more than 80 international events. He is on the PC of most conferences and workshops in computational logic, on the steering committees of ProMAS and CLIMA (both of which he co-founded), and on the Editorial Boards of 6 international journals.He acted as Expert Evaluator (1) within the 5th, 6th and 7th Framework Programme of The European Commission, (2) for the Italian Ministry of Information, (3) for the British Council in Poland, (4) for the main British funding agency (EPSRC), and (5) for the Academy of Sciences in Finland. Jing Dong is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas. He received his B.S. in computer science from Peking University and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Waterloo. His research interests include software patterns, design pattern composition, evolution, visualization, and analysis, software architecture, model-driven architecture, service-oriented architecture, formal and automated software engineering methods. He has served as Finance Chair for the 2005 IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages and Human-Centric Computing and the 2004 IEEE International Symposium on High Assurance Systems Engineering. He was the Publicity Chair for 2006 International Conference on Distributed Multimedia Systems and 2004 International Conference on Visual Languages and Computing. He has been in many program committees, including the IEEE International Symposium on Service-Oriented System Engineering, the IEEE International Symposium on High Assurance Systems, International Conference on Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering, the International Conference on Internet Computing. Amnon H Eden is a computing scholar, a lecturer with the University of Essex, and a research fellow with the Center For Inquiry. Dr Eden received his PhD from the department of Computer Science in Tel Aviv University in 2001. His contributions include the Intension/Locality Hypothesis, the building-blocks of object-oriented design, formal specification languages of object-oriented design and design patterns in the predicate calculus. His interest in design patterns has led him to develop LePUS, a formal and visual language for modelling design patterns, the third version of which is currently (2007) under development. His research interests span subjects in software design theory, the philosophy of computer science, object-oriented programming and design, design patterns, software architecture, software evolution, and machine learning. Dr Eden's publications appeared in leading software engineering journals and conferences and his research was funded by UK's Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), European Science Foundation (ESF), Royal Academy of Engineering, and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Dr Eden lives with his partner and son in Layer de la Haye, Essex, United Kingdom. Ian Graham is an industry consultant with over 20 years experience: a practitioner in IT for over 25. He is internationally recognized as an authority on business modelling, software development methods, software development processes and business rules management. Ian is currently Principal Consultant with Trireme International Ltd. Previously, he spent six years in senior management positions with Chase Manhattan Bank and the Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS). Ian began his working life as an actuary and subsequently moved to Civil Engineering where he worked on one of the largest computer models in the world at the time. The experienced thus gained led him to pursue a career in IT consultancy. The benefit of many project-based experiences has made him both a thought leader in his field and a mature practitioner with a sense of the realities of IT within organizations and the human side of computing. He splits his time evenly between consulting, change management, training and development work and has advised many major corporations at a strategic level in his areas of expertise. Ian’s principal areas of technical expertise include: o agile development processes; o requirements analysis and business process re-engineering; o modern IT strategy and architecture; o agile software engineering techniques involving SOA, components and object technology; o usability – user interface and web design; o architecture; o database systems; o management decision support, financial modelling and knowledge management; o business rules management systems and applied artificial intelligence. Ian has a significant public presence, being associated with both UK and international professional organizations, and is frequently quoted in the IT and financial press. He is well known in the UK and internationally as a public speaker and writer on advanced computing and has published over 88 articles and papers. He is the author or editor of 15 books on advanced computing including A Pattern Language for Web Usability, Addison-Wesley 2003, and Business Rules Management and Service Oriented Architecture: A Pattern Language, Wiley 2006. Ian is a Chartered Fellow of the British Computer Society and Chartered Engineer. He has a Masters degree (with distinction) in Mathematics and was Visiting Professor of Requirements Engineering at De Montfort University from 1998 to 2001. Rodrigo Capobianco Guido has worked with signal processing since 1995. He received his B.Sc. degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, his MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, and his PhD degree in Computational Applied Physics, respectively from São Paulo State University (UNESP) at São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, from Educational Foundation at Votuporanga (FEV), Brazil, in 1998, from Campinas State University (UNICAMP), Brazil, in 2000, and from University of São Paulo at São Carlos (USP), Brazil, in 2003, all titles focusing signal processing. He has already participated in 2 post-doctoral programs in speech processing and wavelets at USP, from 2003 to 2007. He has taught wavelets, speech and audio processing, programming languages, and electronics since 1999 and has published scientific articles in IEEE and Elsevier journals and magazines, plus papers in conferences. He has served or is serving as guest-editor for many special issues of IEEE and Elsevier journals, and as organizer and chairman for IEEE conferences, including IEEE ISM 2005, ISM 2006, ISM 2007, and ICSC 2007. He is member of the editorial board of scientific journals, including Pattern Recognition Letters, Neurocomputing, and the International Journal of Semantic Computing, and has also served as a reviewer for many IEEE and Elsevier journals and conferences (~140 reviewed papers). He received several grants and awards from the State of São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), from National Council of Research and Development (CNpQ), and Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) of Brazil. He has supervised many thesis in his field and is a member of the IEEE. The main objective of his group's work is concentrated in digital speech and audio processing (analysis, synthesis, pattern matching and recognition, voice morphing, compression, and so on), specially based on wavelets, neural networks, plus other statistical techniques.
James Lee is a Genevieve Albers Professor of Albers School of Business and Economics. Prior to that he had served as an assistant professor at State University of New York at Binghamton. He teachs primarily in the areas of E-Commerce & Information Systems, E-Business, and Web Applications. His research is in the areas of Enterprise Integration in Social Context, Information Technology Conceptualization, and Communication Structure. Dr. Lee's publications have appeared in such journals as the Communications of ACM, Journal of Information Technology, Industrial Management & Data Systems, and many more .
Beniamino Di Martino received the M.S. degree (magna cum laude) in Physics and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering, both from University of Naples (Italy),in 1992 and 1996 respectively.Since 2005 he is Full Professor at the Second University of Naples (Italy). In 1994 he joined the Institute for Software Technology and Parallel Systems at the University of Vienna (Austria) where he was researcher till 1998. In 1998 he moved at the Second University of Naples (Italy) where he was Assistant Professor till 2002, and Associate Professor till 2005. He has been scientific consultant for IBM Italia and ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technology, Energy and the Environment). Saud Maghrabi is a Full Professor of Computer Science at Umm Al-Qura University, Saudi Arabia, from 2002 to present. He is currently Vice Dean of Computer and Information Systems College and Chairperson of the Computer Science Department, Umm Al-Qura University. He was Vice Dean Institute of Science Research at the same University from 1998- 2000. He was Director General of Computer Center at the same University from 1990-1995. He has 20 years of academic experience in Computer Science. Prof. Maghrabi's research interests are on Algorithms and data structures, Database systems, Internet development, Artificial intelligent, Software engineering, Formal languages and parsing, Computer graphics. He has published around 100 papers in refereed journals, conference proceedings and book chapters in these areas. He has taught about 16 courses related to these areas. Prof. Maghrabi earned his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Hull University, and his MS degree in Computer Science from Liverpool University (UK). He has been involved in more than 60 conferences and workshops as a program/general conference chair. He is serving as an editorial boards for 3 international journals. He is a member of AAAS, ACM, and IEEE. Michael Stal is a Senior Principal Engineer with Siemens Research Technology in Munich, Germany. He is leading a team which focuses on distributed systems and software architecture. His current work areas include software architecture design, software product lines, large-scale software systems as well as middleware platforms (SOA, components & containers). Michael has been co author of the first two volumes of the POSA book series ( Pattern-Oriented Software Architecture). Srini Ramaswamy is currently Professor and Chairperson of the Computer Science Department at University of Arkan-sas at Little Rock. He will be a visiting professor at Vanderbilt University in Summer 2007 and has been an invited research professor at INSA-Rouen in Rouen, France, in 2006 and 2007. Previously he was Chairperson of the Computer Science Department at Tennessee Tech University, where he has established a unique graduate program in Internet Based Computing. At TTU he also established the Software Automation and Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL), an academic research and development facility with a focus on team-based software research and development to serve local and regional industries. During the summers of 2003 and 2004, he was a visiting research associate professor of Computer Science in the Institute of Software Integrated Systems (ISIS) at Vanderbilt University. In 1994-1995, and subsequently during the summer months of 1996 and 1998, he was a post-doctoral research fellow / visiting scientist at the University of Texas at Austin where he helped with research efforts on Sensible Agents. Dr. Ramaswamy's research interests are on intelligent and flexible control systems, behavior modeling, analysis and simulation, software stability and scalability; particularly in the design and development of better software systems for real-time control issues in manufacturing and other distributed, real-time applications. His work is motivated by his de-sire to understand the various requirements for building scalable, intelligent software systems with the inherent ability to successfully respond to observed and reported behavioral changes in their operating environment. He has actively con-sulted on the design, development and implementation of a knowledge capture, classification and mining project with eFutureKnowledge, Inc. and helped in the development of the “Voter Connect” tool for voter mobilization. He has also worked on a NIST sponsored ATP project on intelligent document analysis. He has been an invited speaker at many local, regional and international events. Dr. Ramaswamy earned his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science in 1994 from the Center for Advanced Computer Studies (CACS) at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is member of the Association of Computing Machinery, Computing Professionals for Social Responsibility and a senior member of the IEEE.
Joerg Rech is an entrepreneur and founder of the company Semantic Technologies, which is working on systems and technologies in the area of Web 2.0, Web 3.0 and the Semantic Web. He was a senior scientist and project manager at the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE), an applied research and transfer institute, in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He worked on different German and European research projects as in the areas software engineering and knowledge management. In several industrial projects he worked on analyzing, evaluating, and improving the software development process and products as well as the diagnosis of quality defects (i.e., design flaws, smells, antipatterns, etc.) and the indications of improvements (e.g., refactorings). His research mainly concerns software diagnostics, software analysis, software patterns & antipatterns, software architecture knowledge, intelligent assistance, semantic web technologies, and knowledge management. Joerg Rech authoredover 70 international journal articles, book chapters, and refereed conference papers and served as an Editor for several books. Additionally, he served as a PC member for different workshops and conferences as well asan editor for several books in the domain of software engineering and knowledge management.
Anil Saldhana is the current Project/Technical Lead for JBoss Security and Identity Management, JBoss Division at Red Hat Inc. He represents Red Hat Inc at many of the standards committees at Oasis, W3C and the Java Community Process, including the committees on SAML, XACML, Enterprise Key Management, WS-Federation and the W3C Security Context Group. He is the project lead for Apache Scout, a leading open source JAXR implementation and is on the Program Management Committee for Web Services at the Apache Software Foundation. He led Red Hat Inc participation at the Oasis XACML interoperability at the Burton Catalyst Conference in June 2007. He has spoken at various conferences including JBoss World and ApacheCon on Security and Identity Management. His professional work and research interests involve Security and Identity Management. He is also on the reviewer board of International Journal of Software and Knowledge Engineering (IJSEKE) and other leading journals for Software Architecture and Security domains.
Abdel-Badeh M Salem He is a professor of Computer Science and Vice Dean of Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences at Ain Shams University, Cairo-Egypt, from 1996 to present. He was a professor of Computer Science at Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University from 1989 to 1996. He was a Director of Scientific Computing Center at Ain Shams University (1984-1990). His research includes intelligent computing, expert systems, medical informatics, and intelligent e-learning technologies. He has published around 170 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings in these areas. He has been involved in more than 120 conferences and workshops as an Int. Program Committee and Session Chair. He is author and co-author of 15 Books in English and Arabic Languages. Shashi Shekhar is a McKnight Distinguished University Professor and the Director of the Army High Performance Computing Research Center at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, USA. He was elected an IEEE fellow and received the IEEE Technical Achievement Award for contributions to spatial database storage methods, data mining, and geographic information systems(GIS). He is serving as a co-Editor-in-Chief of Geo-Informatica: An International Journal on Advances in Computer Sc. for GIS (ISSN 1384-6175) as well as an Encyclopedia of GIS (in works); and a member of the steering committee of the ACM Intl. Conference on GIS. He served on two committees of the National Research Council National Academy of Sciences, namely, the committee on mapping sciences (2004-6) and the committee to review the basic and applied research at National Geo-spatial Intelligence Agency (2005). He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of University Consortium on GIS (2003-2004), a member of the editorial boards of IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, a member of the IEEE-CS Computer Science \& Engineering Practice Board, a program co-chair of the ACM Intl. Dacheng Tao received the B.Eng. degree from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the M.Phil. degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and the Ph.D. degree from the University of London (UoL). Currently, he is an assistant professor with the Department of Computing in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, biometrics, computer vision, data mining, machine learning, multimedia, pattern classification, statistics, and video surveillance. His research includes high performance computing and networking, embedded systems, ubiquitous/pervasive computing and intelligence. He has published around 250 papers in refereed journals, conferenceproceedings and book chapters in these areas. He has been involved in more than 100 conferences and workshops as a program/general conference chair and more than 200 conference and workshops as a program committee member. He served as the vice-chair of IEEE Technical Committee of Supercomputing Applications (TCSA) until 2004, currently is in the executive committee of IEEE Technical Committee of Scalable Computing (TCSC), and of IEEE Technical Committee of Self-Organization and Cybernetics for Informatics, and of IFIP Working Group 10.2 on Embedded Systems, and of IEEE Technical Committee of Granular Computing. He is also the co-chair of IEEE Task force on Intelligent Ubiquitous Computing. In addition, he is the editors-in-chief of 9 international journals and few book series. He is serving as an editor for around 20 international journals. He has been acting as an author/co-author or an editor/co-editor of 30 books from Kluwer, Springer, Nova Science, American Scientific Publishers and John Wiley & Sons. He has received three Best Paper Awards including the IEEE 20th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications (AINA-06); one IEEE Best Paper Award, 2007; one IEEE Outstanding Paper Award, 2007; Distinguished Achievement Award, 2005; Distinguished Contribution Award, 2004; Outstanding Achievement Award, 2002; Canada Foundation for Innovation Award, 2003; University Research/Publication/Teaching Award 00-02/02-04/04-06.
