The Domain Experts Board of IJOP consists of unlimited number of talented experts who have demonstrated their unflinching commitment to the IJOP, its mission, objectives and its high standards. Their sole role is to efficiently serve as specific domain expert advisors to the editor, assist with the solicitation and publication of research articles and perspectives in their domains, promote the goals of IJOP, periodically review theme issues proposal that needs the knowledge of domain experts, vote on the selection of the best papers to be awarded and published in the journal, and contact sponsors for financial support for IJOP.

 

ImageAjith Abraham received Ph.D. degree from Monash University, Australia. He works as a Professor under the South Korean Government's Institute of Information Technology Advancement (IITA) program. His primary research interests are in computational intelligence with an application focus including network security, Web services, Web intelligence, multi criteria decision-making, data mining etc. He has authored/co-authored over 300 research publications in peer reviewed reputed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings of which five have won 'best paper' awards.
He has given several plenary talks and conference tutorials. He is the editor-in-chief / co-editor in chief of three international scientific journals and also serves the editorial board of several reputed International journals. He has guest edited 21 special issues for International scientific journals. Since 2001, he is actively involved in the Hybrid Intelligent Systems (HIS) and the Intelligent Systems Design and Applications (ISDA) series of International conferences. He is the General Co-chair of the First Asia Modeling Symposium, Phuket, Thailand; Third International Symposium on Information Assurance and Security (IAS'07), Manchester, UK; Seventh International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications (ISDA'07), Brazil; and the Program Chair/Co-Chair of the First European International Conference on Data Mining (EICDM'07), Lisbon; Second International Conference on Digital Information Management (ICDIM'07), France; Third International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'07), Seoul; and The Seventh International Conference on Hybrid Intelligent  Systems (HIS'07), Germany. 

 

ImageGaffar Ashraff ’s research interests combine the areas of HCI and software architecture and the mutual dependency between them. He works on the development of highly interactive and distributed applications as well as the middleware needed for the development environment.  He currently works as a “Design Lead” at SAP Emerging Solutions (Palo Alto, CA and Montreal, QC), the largest business software provider in the world. He is intensively applying patterns and UCD best practices to achieve effective and flexible association between user interface and software architecture within the Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (E-SOA) environment. From a technical perspective, he uses system modeling and methodologies to increase modularity, reliability and reuse through pragmatic design and deployment of web services and patterns as an effective vehicle of industrial productivity.  Dr. Gaffar published several papers in IEEE, ACM and other major conferences and journals as well as several book chapters. Besides, He regularly  gives talks, tutorials and domain training for industry. Dr. Gaffar is recipient of several awards and government scholarships, including Certificate of “Recognition for Superior Academic Achievements”

 

ImageKhaled Assaleh is an associate professor of Electrical Engineering at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), Sharjah, UAE. Prior to joining AUS in August 2002, he had a 9-year career in R&D following the completion of his PhD in 1993 from Rutgers University, New Jersey. From March 1997 to July 2002, he was with Conexant Systems Inc (formerly Rockwell Semiconductor Systems) in Newport Beach, California. He was a group leader of engineering with the wireless communications division where he led and directed projects related to speech recognition and enhancement. From March 1997 to December 2000, he was with the Network Access Division as a senior staff engineer where he worked on application of speech processing and recognition for voice over IP, central site modem, and fax engines. Prior to that, Dr. Assaleh was a senior staff engineer with Motorola Inc. in Phoenix from November 1994 to March 1997 where he was involved in several projects at Motorola in the secure communications area. Dr. Assaleh won the Motorola Engineering Award in 1996. From October 1993 to November 1994, Dr. Assaleh was a research professor at the CAIP center of Rutgers University. As a research professor he was an associate investigator for several government funded projects in the area of secure access control using speaker authentication. Throughout his research as a PhD candidate, Dr. Assaleh’s work was funded by USAF, DoD, and other US governmental agencies. His PhD research was the nucleus of the Speak-EZ technology for speaker authentication. Dr. Assaleh holds 10 US patents and has published more than 45 articles in fields related to signal processing and pattern recognition. His research areas include biometrics, bio-signal & image processing, and pattern recognition.

 

Image Robert Biddle is Professor of Human-Computer Interaction in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. He has degrees in Applied Analysis and Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and a PhD from the University of Canterbury.  He is a member of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Computer Science, the Computer Science graduate degree granting body of both Carleton University and the University of Ottawa, and also a member of the graduate faculty of the Department of Psychology at Carleton University. He has worked with industry and research organizations, and given courses and presentations in many countries. He holds diplomas in both childhood and adult education, and has won several awards for teaching excellence at tertiary level. His two main research areas are Human-Computer Interaction and Software Design. His current active projects are in agile methods for software development, in the design of novel software systems such as video-games, wikis, and end-user development environments, and in new approaches to computer security

 

Image Issam W. Damaj received his Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Computer Engineering from Beirut Arab University in 1999, and his Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Computer and Communications Engineering from the American University of Beirut in 2001. He was awarded his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from London South Bank University, London, United Kingdom in 2004. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Dhofar University, Oman.  His research interests include hardware/software co-design, embedded systems design, reconfigurable computing, computer interfacing applications, parallel processing, engineering formal methods, and software engineering. Beside many scientific papers and journal articles he is a continuous speaker on numerous conferences and scientific events. He has been a member of several international conference program committees and journal boards. He has several invited honors including Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in Science and Engineering. He is a Member of the IEEE and IEE professional organizations, and the order of Engineers in Beirut.

 

Image Stefan Edlich holds two Diplomas (Computer Science and Economics). He received his Doctor in Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) in 1995 from Technische Universität Berlin and was Assistant Professor at the Institute for Communications and Operating Systems (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sigram Schindler). From 1995 to 1998 he was the head of an IT-Department (trade-supervision) of a German top 10 Bank. In 1999 he joined one of the most successful OO Consulting-Companies (GEBIT) in Germany. Simultaneously he worked for BEA-Systems Inc. as a professional trainer teaching the BEA product portfolio (weblogic et al) to many of the German top 100 companies. He is a founding member of OODBMS.org e.V. 2002 he was called for a professorship at the University of Brandenburg (App.Sc.). 2005 he was called for a professorship at TFH-Berlin.

ImageAditya Ghose

Image For 18 years, Mamdouh Halawa has been a Researcher at the National Institute for Standards, Cairo, Egypt.  At present he is on temporary 6-month assignment to the NIST in Gaithersburg US, on a coordinated project for thermal transfer standards.  This involves an investigation of electrical simulation of thin-film multi-junction thermal converters with Joseph Kinard and Thomas Lipe.  He is a Lecturer of Engineering Physics at the Helwan University and a Technical Assessor for the National Laboratories Accreditation Bureau for the electrical activities. Dr. Halawa has his BSEE, MSEE and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Ain Shams University in Cairo, and is a member of numerous technical societies.  He is the Egyptian contact for EUROMET and a member of ILAC and the IEC in Cairo.  So he is fully aware of the international operations of the electrical metrology domains.  He is author of over 15 technical articles, and cooperations in international metrology projects, as Guest Researcher and Lecturer.  He is married and lives in Nasr City.


 

Image Tarek Helmy is an assistant professor in the department of Information and Computer Science, College of Computer Science and Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He received his Ph.D. in Intelligent Systems from Kyushu University, Japan in 2002. Formally, He has been employed as an assistant professor at Kyushu University (Japan) for 2 years. He is one of the founders of KODAMA (Kyushu University Open & Distributed Autonomous Multi-agent) project for building scalable, flexible and secure multi-agent systems, which can operate in a worldwide computing environment based on agent-oriented programming paradigm. He participated as a main member in the NL Voice Interface for Controlling Audio-Video equipment's project, which supported by the Japanese Ministry of International Trading. He also participated as a main member of the Multi-agent based EC system as an integration technology for the next Web generation project. Currently, he is leading a Multi-Agent Based Ubiquitous Approach for Personalized Information Systems research group at KFUPM. His research interests include Distributed Systems, Multi-Agent Systems, agent oriented programming, Personalized Web services, and Cooperative Intelligent Systems. He has published more than 40 papers in major international journals and conferences in the field of intelligent agents, agent oriented programming, Web intelligence, distributed systems, and human computer interaction. Dr. Helmy is on the program/organizing committee of various international journals/conferences in the field of intelligent agent systems and distributed systems. Beside a many scientific papers and journal articles, Dr. Helmy acts as a general chair and co-chair of some international conferences and workshops

 

Image Jan Jurjens is a Senior Lecturer (comparable US Assoc. Prof.) at The Open University (the British distance university in Milton Keynes near London), having previously lead the Competence Center for IT-Security, Software & Systems Engineering, TU Munich (Germany).  Doctor of Philosophy in Computing from the University of Oxford and author of "Secure Systems Development with UML" (Springer, 2004), "IT Security" (Springer, forthcoming), and various publications on computer security and safety and software engineering. Founding chair of the working group on Formal Methods and Software Engineering for Safety and Security within the German Society for Informatics (GI) and member of the executive board of the Division of Safety and Security within the GI, the executive board of the committee on Modeling of the GI, the advisory board of the Bavarian Competence Center for Safety and Security, the working group on e-Security of the Bavarian regional government, and the IFIP Working Group 1.7 "Theoretical Foundations of Security Analysis and Design". 

 

Image Ali Jaoua is a faculty member of computer Science and engineering department, University of Qatar, since 2000, in leave from University of Manar (Tunisia), where he supervised the Research Group on Algorithmic and Heuristics (URPAH: 50 Members). He obtained the degree of "Docteur es-Science" (1987) from the University Paul Sabatier of Toulouse (France), "Doctor Engineer" (1979) from Institute Polytechnic of Toulouse, and "Engineer in Computer Science" from ENSEEIHT of Toulouse (1977). His research areas are Software and Information Engineering. He has been working on the Use of Relational Methods in Computer Science since 1984, and the application of formal concept analysis in Information Engineering since 1990. He has been Invited Prof./researcher in the following universities: University Joseph Fournier, Grenoble, France, July 2004, University of Sherbrooke (Canada), in 1989, Sophia-Antipolis (I3S) (France) during December 1991. He has been associate Professor in computer science in Laval University (Quebec, Canada), 1989-1992. He has been invited speaker for some international conferences and universities during the last ten years. He also has organized several conferences in computer science, and has been the seminar coordinator for about 12 years of his carrier. He supervised about 12 Phd-thesis defended mostly on conceptual information engineering, and several Masters. He published about 35 papers in International Journals, and many conferences, and contributes in several books. He is a Member of the Steering Committee of Relational Methods in Computer Science Group, RELMICS, and Editorial member of the associated electronic journal (JORMICS), Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Computing, since 2004. Member of The International Reviewers Committee of the Journal of Web Engineering, since 2005. He has also been member of many associations in computer science.

Image Roland Kaschek, After highh shool I became a programmer apprentice in the Juelich nuclear research center in West Germany. After graduation I studied Mathematics at University of Oldenburg with focus on algebra, in particular group theory, and category theory. My PhD thesis was in algebraic graph theory. After getting the degree I joined University of Klagenfurt as assistant professor and started working on information systems and in particular systems design and aspects of conceptual modeling.

In 1999 I left Klagenfurt University and joined UBS AG in Zurich, Switzerland as a business analyst. There I as mainly working on software architecture and producing interface specifications for data sourcing in a data warehouse project. I left UBS at the end of 2001 and became an associate professor with the department of information systems of Massey University in New Zealand. In 2004 Klagenfurt University awarded me the habilitation degree in Applied Informatics. I taught information systems design at University of Klagenfurt (Austria), National Technical University of Kharkiv (Ukraine), Federal University of Campina Grande (Brazil), University of Chiangmai (Thailand), and Massey University (New Zealand). At Massey so far I worked on various aspects of systems design with the focus being database design, Web information systems design, workflow design, design of intelligent assistant systems, and lately decision making for choosing the most appropriate software process for a development project at hand. The core of my scientific interestts is a theory of conceptual modeling. That theory is supposed to cover and organize well the pragmatic aspects of software development. When conditions admitt it I continue to research algebraic aspects of graphs.

 

 

Image Roger “Buzz” King’s interests include database integration, database-centric website development, and animation. He is the author of over 60 technical papers. He is on the steering committee for the Encyclopedia of Life (EOL), an international portal development effort sponsored by the Smithsonian and intended to provide centralized access to information on all known living species. His team has developed a first release of the EOL portal and it has been deployed in an experimental mode. His research has been supported by DARPA, NSF, the Smithsonian, ONR, the US Navy, the DOE, the US Army, Martin Marietta, IBM, AT&T, and U S WEST. He has been an editor with several major journals, and has served as the program chair for numerous international conferences. Buzz has graduated several PhD students who have risen to prominence as academics, industrial leaders, and entrepreneurs.  Buzz received an A.B. in Mathematics from Occidental College in 1977, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California in 1982. In 1982 he joined the faculty of Computer Science at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and currently has the rank of full Professor.

 

ImageVitus Lam is currently working at The University of Hong Kong. He received a PhD in computer science from University of Bath, UK. Dr. Lam is an associate editor of the INFOCOMP Journal of Computer Science and acted as reviewer for international journals and conferences. Vitus is a chartered member of the British Computer Society and was the Vice Chairman of the British Computer Society (Hong Kong Section) for 2001-2002. His research interests include formal methods, UML, pi-calculus, model checking, e-commerce, business process modelling and workflow patterns. He is a chartered engineer and a member of the IEEE.

 

 

ImageMohamad Ladan has over 8 years of experience in the area of computer hardware & software industry. He has worked as computer /software engineer and technical consultant for major companies in Lebanon, USA, and Canada. In addition, he has over 9 years of teaching and training experience in the area of computer hardware & software and Information Technology.

He received the B. Eng.(Honors) In Electronics and Communication Engineering from Alexandria University/Beirut Arab University in 1986, and M.Sc. and the Ph.D. degrees in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., USA, in 1990 and 1995 respectively. His Master study was focused on Advanced Computer Architecture and VLSI Design, and his Ph.D. study was focused on Parallel and Distributed Computing Systems Software Engineering. He joined the faculty at Haigazian University in 2001 and is currently the Chairman of the Mathematical Sciences Division and an Associate Professor in the computer science department. In addition, he is the chairperson of the Computing Services Committee at Haigazian University and is a computer science Lecturer at the American University of Beirut. Prior to joining Haigazian University he was an assistant professor of computer engineering and computer science at Beirut Arab University

He has received a number of awards that include: Tuition Scholarship and Research Assistantship from the Computer Engineering Department and the Networking and Computing Services Center at Syracuse University from 1990 to 1995, a Syracuse University “Best Student Worker” recognition award  in June 1994 for his contribution in developing both the Job Information System, a campus-wide database system for managing and finding jobs for students on and off-campus, and the Syra-CWIS system,  an Internet/Netscape-Based information system for Syracuse University, and an Honor student status in the Faculty of Engineering at Beirut Arab University from 1981 to 1986.

Dr. Ladan has several research publications in the areas of distributed and parallel computing, object-oriented software, internet programming, and e-learning. He participated in several international computer and IT related conferences, and is a referee, technical committee member, and an organizational team member of several international conferences.

He is a Member of the Order of Engineers in North America and in Lebanon, and a member of ACS.

Image Jens Lichtenberg is a Ph.D. student of Electrical Engineering at Ohio University. He got his Bachelor degree in Business Informatics in 2002 from the Technical University of Clausthal and graduated in 2004 with a Master in Business Informatics, also from Clausthal. He did part of his Master’s work in applied computer science in Spain, researching multi-casting in video-on-demand environments, and wrote his thesis at Ohio University covering data mining in research management systems. In 2005 Jens joined Ohio University as a Ph.D. student in the Electrical Engineering and focused on bioinformatics and proteomics. He is currently working on the application of data mining methods and the extraction of patterns in protein expression profiling.

Volker Luckas studied Computer Science and Mathematics with focus on optimization algorithms at the University of Technology in Darmstadt, Germany, where he received his M.Sc. (Dipl.-Inform.) in 1995. From 1995 till 2000, he has been a full-time researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics in Darmstadt. In 2000 he received his PhD from the University of Technology in Darmstadt for his research about the element based, efficient and rapid creation of 3D visualizations and 3D animations. From 2000 till June 2004, he has been the head of the department "Animation and Image Communication" (A3) at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics in Darmstadt, Germany. 

Since June 2004 Volker Luckas is working as a full professor for Computer Science at the University of Applied Sciences Bingen/Rhine. Volker Luckas is also a professional member of the ACM, the ACM SIGGRAPH and the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI).

Image Rajib Mall obtained his Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. degrees --- all from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He is currently working as a Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India.  His research interest is  mainly in the areas of program analysis and testing object-oriented programs. He has published about one hundred refereed  papers in his areas of work. He is also the author of two books.

 

 

 

Image Tokuro Matuso (Ph.D, M.S, B.Edu) is working as an associate professor at Faculty of Computer Science in Yamagata University since 2006. He received the Doctor degree of Engineering from Dept. of Computer Science at Nagoya Institute of Technology in 2006. He awarded a Telecommunication System Award by Telecommunications Advancement Foundation since he published high quality papers from several authority journals in 2005. He got scholarship awards from American Associate of Artificial intelligence in 2004 and 2005. He also awarded by Information Processing Society of Japan as Outstanding Paper for Young researchers in 2006 and Outstanding Paper of Special Interest Group in 2007. He is a member of AAAI, IEEE, and several others. He is a conference chair (program chair) of IEEE-IWEA 2008, IEEE-IWEA 2007, IEEE-PRIWEC 2006, RRS 2006, and RRS 2005.

Image RAJASREE MS  is a Professor in Computer Science at LBS Institute of Technology for Womem, Poojappura, Trivandrum. I have received my B Tech degree in Computer Science from reginal Engineering College, Calicut in 1990. Took my Masters degree and  Doctorate from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, both in Computer Science. I have been working as a faculty member in CS for the past sixteen years.The title of my PhD thesis is :
Quality Estimation Models for Software Development Using Object-Oriented Design Structures.

This thesis concentrates on quality estimation models for software design using the design structures derived from design patterns. I have around 10 publications out of this work.

ImageKhaled Ahmed Nagaty was born in 1960 at Giza Egypt, I obtained my  B.Sc. in Statistics from Cairo University in 1982. I obtained my M.Sc. in operating systems from Cairo University in 1990. My Ph.D. was in Pattern Recognition, I obtained it from Cairo University in 1999. I was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science until 2006 at Ain Shams University in Egypt. Now, I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Ain Shams University. My research interests are focused on Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and Biometrics.

 

 

ImageTaymoor Nazmy is a professor of Computer Science at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. His research includes Image processing and pattern recognition. He has published more than 40 papers in international journals, and conference proceedings. He has been involved in more than 30 conferences and workshops. He has been practicing, teaching and researching for over 20 years. He served in faculty of science, and education as a lecturer for over 12 year. Currently he is the director of the university information network, vice dean for social and environmental affairs. He was PI for more than funded project local and international. He is the responsible for developing and administration of Ain Shams University web site.

 

Image Francisco Milton Mendes Neto received the Bachelor's degree in computing science from the State University of Ceará, Brazil, in 1997. He received the MSc degree in informatics in 2000 from the Federal University of Paraíba, Brazil, for his work on environments to support web-based collaborative learning. Dr. Mendes Neto received the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Campina Grande, Brazil, in 2005 for his work on knowledge management and computer-supported learning. In 1998, he joined the Superintendence of Corporate Systems of the Federal Service of Data Processing, where he was the manager of projects of Computer-Supported Learning and of Learning Communities of the Brazilian Federal Government. In 2006, he joined the Rural Federal University of the Semi-Arid (UFERSA), where he is currently Associate Professor of the Graduate Program in Computer Science. Dr. Mendes Neto is a member of the Brazilian Computing Society, of the Brazilian Knowledge Management Society, of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), of the IEEE Education Society, of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery). Dr. Mendes Neto is also member of the Committee of Program of the Conferences EATIS 2006, accomplished in Santa Marta, Colombia, and EATIS 2007, accomplished in Faro, Portugal

 

Image Robin G. Qiu is with Department of Information Science, Pennsylvanian State University, USA and also an Endowed Chair Professor of the College of Economics and Management, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing, China. He is the founder of the IEEE International Conference on Service Operation and Logistics, and Informatics. He is the founding Chair of Services and Logistics Technical Committee of IEEE Intelligent Transportation System Society, and also the founding Chair of the Service Science Section in INFORMS. His research interests include service science and informatics, business component modelling and computing, services innovations, service-oriented architecture, and control and management of manufacturing systems. He has over 100 publications including about 40 refereed journal papers, four edited book/proceedings, and three book-chapters.

Image Tongjun(Roger) Ruan received his master degree from Computer Science Department of Shandon University of Tech. Jinan City, Shandong Province, China and doctoral degree from Energy Geology School of China University of Geosciences, Beijing, China.   From 1978 to 1992 he was a faculty of Computer Science Department of Shandong University of Tech. From 1996 to 1999 he was an associate professor at Electrical Engineering School of Shandong University of Tech. From Jan. 2000 to July 2000 he was a visiting professor at California Polytechnic State University, USA.  From Aug. 2000 to 2002, he was a visiting scientist at REACT Group/PRRC, New Mexico Tech.  USA.. From 2003 to present, he is a research scientist at REACT group/PRRC/NMT,USA.

 Image Mehmet Sayal is an expert level software research scientist at Hewlett-Packard Labs. He received his B.S. degree in computer engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, in 1993. He worked as a teaching assistant at the same university for one year. After that, he continued his education in the U.S. He received a M.S. in computer science and Ph.D. in computer engineering from Northwestern University, Illinois, U.S.A., in 1996 and 2000 respectively. He worked as a summer intern at HP Labs in 1997 and 1998. He joined HP Labs as a full-time employee immediately after receiving his Ph.D. degree in 2000. He has more than 20 publications in business intelligence, data mining, time series analysis, web services, B2B interactions, workflow management, and content delivery networks. He also has three granted U.S. patents and 12 more U.S. patent applications in process.

 

 Image Jason McC. Smith i s a researcher at IBM Watson Research in the Hudson River Valley of NY, USA, where he pursues software understanding tools and techniques.  He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005, where he created SPQR, a practical toolset to detect instances of known design patterns directly from unannotated source code in a language independent manner.  To this end, Dr. Smith developed the rho calculus, a reliance-based denotational semantics for defining interactions among OO code elements; the Elemental Design Patterns catalog, a suite of formalized concepts that are the basis of OO design; the concept of isotopic analysis, which alleviates the need for slavish adherence to pattern structures, while retaining their semantic components and inherent flexibility; and POML, the Pattern/Object Markup Language, as a practical XML interchange format for the description of the hierarchical semantics and abstractions of programming.  Unable to avoid seeing patterns everywhere he looks, Dr. Smith believes that semantic awareness of the abstractions of programming is the foundation of comprehension and maintainability of code.  His background in physics (B.S. University of Washington 1993) and mathematics (B.S. University ofWashington 1993) gives him a practical approach to the field: theory drives tools which drive understanding which drives development.  Side projects along the way have included a stint as a professional military flight simulator developer, and the FaceTop distributed document collaboration video conferencing environment for pair programming.  Currently, Dr. Smithis involved with several internal projects at IBM ranging from deep understanding of legacy code, to guiding the development of Business Process Patterns.  He maintains a strong collaboration with UNC as well, and is working with the next generation of graduate students interested inpatterns research.

Image Himanshu Thapliyal received his B.Tech in Computer Engineering in 2004 from G.B. Pant University of Agril. & Technology, Pantnagar, India. In 2006, he received MS by research in VLSI design from International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, India. Currently, he is a research scholar in School of Computer Engineering (SCE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has participated in various International conferences and workshops.  He has published nearly 60 research papers in reviewed International Conferences and Journals. He was awarded by State government of Uttaranchal (India) for his research on Vedic Mathematics. He is a recipient of several travel grants. He was the chair of First International Workshop on Future Computing and the associate editor of the Proceeding of the 2006 International conference on Computer Design and Nanotechnology (CDES'06), Las Vegas, USA. He serves in the program committee of various conferences and is also a regular reviewer of reputed journals and conferences. He is listed in 2007 edition of Marquis Who’s and who in the World.

Image Haibin Zhu is an associate professor of the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics, Nipissing University, Canada. He received B.S. degree in computer engineering from Institute of Engineering and Technology, China (1983), and M.S. (1988) and Ph.D. (1997) degrees in computer science from the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), China. He was a visiting professor and a special lecturer in the College of Computing Sciences, New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA (1999-2002) and a lecturer, an associate professor and a full professor at NUDT (1988-2000). He has published more than sixty research papers, four books and one book chapter on object-oriented programming, distributed and collaborative systems, and computer architecture.

He is serving and served as co-chair of the technical committee of Distributed Intelligent Systems of IEEE SMC Society, editor for the Int’l Journal of Intelligent Control and Systems, guest editor for the special issue of “Collaboration Support Systems” for IEEE Trans. on SMC(A), guest associate editor for the CIT 2005 special issue for the Int’l Journal of Pervasive Computing and Communications,  program vice chair for the 2007 SIWN Int’l Conf. on Complex Open Distributed Systems (CODS’2007) Chengdu, China, 22-24 July 2007, publicity chair for the 2007 Int’l Symposium on Collaborative Technologies and Systems (CTS 2007), May 21-25, 2007, Orlando, FL, USA, organizer for the workshop on “Role-Based Collaboration” of the 2006 ACM Int’l Conf. on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW’06), program committee member for more than 10 international conferences.

He is the receipt of the Best Paper Award from the 11th ISPE Int’l Conf. on Concurrent Engineering (ISPE/CE2004), the 2004 and 2005 IBM Eclipse Innovation Grant Awards, the Educator’s Fellowship of OOPSLA’03, a 2nd Class Nation-Level Award of Excellent Textbook from the Ministry of Education of China (2002), a 2nd Class Nation-Level Award of Education Achievement from Ministry of Education of China (1997), three 1st Class Ministry-level Research Achievement Awards from DOD of China (1997, 1994, and 1991), and a 2nd Class Excellent Textbook Award of the Ministry of Electronics Industry of China (1996).

Dr. Zhu is a senior member of IEEE, a member of ACM and a life member of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, USA.
